Evolution of the field watch
The field watch rose to prominence during the First World War due to soldiers’ demands for reliable and portable timepieces. Trench fighting required instant readability and accurate timing, creating a need for watches compact enough to be worn on the wrist. The rigors of the battlefield called for watches resilient to water and shock, shaping the Field watch’s distinctive style – rugged and practical with virtually no embellishment.
